Dr. James Bakul Sarkar
Professor, School of Business & Economics (SoBE) & Coordinator, BBA in AIS
James Bakul Sarkar, PhD received his BBA and MBA degree from the Accounting & Information Systems (AIS) Department of the University of Dhaka. He holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the same University. Having previously taught at Dhaka City College, Stamford University Bangladesh and ASA University Bangladesh, Sarkar came to United International University in 2008, where he is currently a Professor of Accounting. He is currently serving as the Coordinator of BBA in AIS Program at UIU.
He is the author of Accounting Principles, (with Farjana Yeshmin) and A Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis (with Muhammad Hasan Al-Mamun). Sarkar has a number of research articles published in Scopus-indexed journals. He has participated in different international seminars and workshops. He served as a trainer on different IASs/IFRSs at UIU and Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM). He served as a Team Leader in ACBSP Accreditation process of UIU (Standard 1).
Sarkar is actively involved in teaching different courses for more than two decades like Financial Accounting I, Financial Accounting II, Advanced Accounting – I, Advanced Accounting – II, Advanced Accounting – III and Corporate Financial Reporting where different accounting standards are dealt with. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), USA.

Anowar Parves, FCCA
Senior Principal Officer in the Accounts Department at Janata Bank PLC
Anowar Parves, FCCA is a seasoned finance professional with over fifteen years of extensive experience in the banking industry, primarily with Janata Bank PLC, one of the largest state-owned commercial banks in Bangladesh. He is a Fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK, and holds a Master of Bank Management (MBM) from the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM).
Parves is currently serving as a Senior Principal Officer in the Accounts Department at Janata Bank PLC, where he plays a vital role in financial oversight, compliance, and reporting functions. Alongside his professional responsibilities, he has demonstrated strong academic and research capabilities. His published works—including three analytical articles on RTGS operations, corporate governance practices, and internal audit quality—highlight his commitment to strengthening governance frameworks and enhancing audit standards within the banking industry. In addition to his research contributions, Parves has co-authored two practice books for the ICAB Professional Level examinations—one on Financial Management and the other on Financial Accounting and Reporting—further demonstrating his strong commitment to professional education and the advancement of knowledge in the field.

In addition, he holds the position of Deputy Director (Audit & Consultancy) at a renowned audit firm, PKF Aziz Halim Khair Choudhury, Chartered Accountants. With a distinguished background and expertise in auditing and consultancy, he has established himself as a proficient professional in these fields.
Hasan successfully obtained his Chartered Accountant qualification from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) in 2023, with enrollment No. 2285. He brings over five years of dedicated experience working with various corporate entities, consistently demonstrating his proficiency in accounting and finance. His extensive professional journey is marked by significant achievements in auditing and consultancy, reflecting his deep understanding and competence in these domains. Additionally, he holds a BBA degree in Accounting & Information Systems (AIS) from United International University.
